Launched in 2018, the Symphonic DasA project strives to incite curiosity, understanding and liking for classical music among public school students.
The Symphonic DasA project (“Das” is the Armenian word for the lesson and “A” stands for the “LA” note – the beginning of the musical alphabet to which all musical instruments are tuned to in the orchestra) aims to popularize high art and provoke a positive transformation in the young generation’s attitude towards music.
The framework of the project comprises of open lessons and extra-curricular meetings with public school students to explore classical music, its history, and cultural impact in addition to introducing them to specific classical masterpieces before attending the concert performances that follow these lessons. This enriching experience gives many students an opportunity to attend their very first classical concert.
Throughout these years the Symphonic DasA lessons have been delivered to over 67,000 students in 173 public schools. Thanks to these lessons the demographic of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra’s audience has been rising and is 30-40% younger than before its conception.
